dc.description.abstract<jats:p>The self-assembly of DNA–chromophore conjugates into nanospheres is demonstrated. Phenanthrenes are arranged in light-harvesting chromophore arrays collecting excitation energy <jats:italic>via</jats:italic> FRET.</jats:p>
