Il saggio sottopone a nuovo esame la funzione di modello che per Alice Ceresa hanno esercitato l’opera e la figura della scrittrice svizzera Annemarie Schwarzenbach (1908–1942). L’indagine si estende anche al campo dall’attività traduttiva, con studio delle traduzioni frammentarie inedite che Ceresa ha compiuto di diverse opere di Schwarzenbach ("Das glückliche Tal", "Lyrische Novelle", "Kongo-Ufer"). Nel complesso, è proposta un’analisi articolata di quella che si è definita la “funzione Schwarzenbach”. Questa agisce fin dalla formazione di Ceresa, nel suo primo avvicinamento negli anni Trenta e Quaranta alla scrittura (letteraria e giornalistica) e nel primo delinearsi della sua authorship. Continua poi ad esercitarsi lungo tutto l’arco della traiettoria umana e intellettuale di Ceresa, dove Schwarzenbach assume la rilevante funzione di archetipo, attivo su più livelli (modello letterario ma anche rilevante antecedente di una non celata identità queer).
This essay re-examines the model function that the œuvre and figure of the Swiss writer Annemarie Schwarzenbach (1908–1942) exercised for Alice Ceresa. The investigation also extends to the field of translation, analyzing Ceresa’s unpublished, fragmentary translations of several works by Schwarzenbach ("Das glückliche Tal", "Lyrische Novelle", "Kongo-Ufer"). Overall, the study analyses what has been termed the “Schwarzenbach function”. This function emerges since Ceresa’s formative years, in the period of her initial engagement with writing (both literary and journalistic) in the 1930s and 1940s, and of the early development of her authorship. It continues to manifest throughout Ceresa’s life and intellectual trajectory, where Schwarzenbach assumes the significant role of an archetype, operating on multiple levels—not only as a literary model but also as a crucial precursor to a distinctly queer identity.
