Die Geschichte des Deutschen in Ungarn. Überlegungen zu Stand und Desideraten der Forschung

The present paper focuses on the state and demands of the historical investigation of German in Hungary. As a first step two particularly acute research deficiencies are brought to light and then their reasons and background are determined. The next step devotes itself to the search for the theoretical framework which makes the remedy of these research deficiencies possible. This theoretical framework is to be found in the concept of the socio-pragmatic description of the history of language which is then briefly presented too. The paper hopes to achieve a modest contribution to the remedy of the deficiencies mentioned and to make the first step to eliminate them.
