dc.description.abstractGrassroots-based sustainability initiativesexperiment with alternative waysof consumption and are thus promising agents forfosteringpro-environmental behavior change. Atthe same time, sustainability initiatives depend onhigh levels of volunteering andcollective action. The present contributionaimsfor a better understanding of why people participate in sustainability initiatives, and whether such engagement is an expression of a broader sustainable lifestyle.
