Abstract
Les antivitamines sont des antagonistes spécifiques, compétitifs des vitamines. Elles agissent en déplaçant ces dernières, troublant ainsi l'activité d'enzymes dont les vitamines sont les coenzymes. L'interruption de chaines métaboliques a des répercussions profondes, qui vont au-delà du simple déplacement ; on relevé des perturbations dans la biosynthèse de certains acides aminés, des purines, des acides nucléiques ainsi que d'autres produits essentiels du métabolisme. A l'aide de certains microorganismes, il peut être démontre que non seulement la vitamine spécifique correspondant à l'antivitamine utilisée est déplacée, mais que tout l'équilibre vitaminique de l'organisme est trouble. Les antivitamines ne sont pas importantes pour la thérapeutique uniquement ; elles constituent également un précieux moyen d'investigation du métabolisme.
The antivitamins are specific competitive antagonists of the vitamins. Their effect
exists in displacing the latter, tlms troubling the activity of enzymes of which the vitamins
are the coenzymes. The thus implied blocking of metabolic processes has deep repercussive cffects which go further than a simple displacement: perturbations in the biosynthesis
of certain acids, of purines, nucleic acids and other essential metabolic products are relieved_
By means of certain microorganisms it can be shown that not only the specific vitamin
correspondent to the utilized antivitamin is displaced but that the whole vitamin balance
of the organism is disturbed.
The antivitamins are not only important for therapeutical purposes, they are also
of an important value of metabolic investigations

sind. Die dadurch bedingte Unterbrechung von Stoffwechselvorgängen ist von tiefgreifender "\Virkung, die weit über eine einfache Verdrängung hinaus geht: es werden Störungen
in der Biosynthese von gewissen Aminosäuren, von Purinen, von Nucleinsäuren und andern
wichtigen Stoffwechselprodukten beobachtet.
Mit Hilfe von gewissen Mikroorganismen kann gezeigt werden, dass nicht nur das
spezifische Vitamin durch das entsprechend gebrauchte Antivitamin verdrängt wird, sondern dass das ganze Vitamingleichgewicht des Organismus gestört ist.
Die Antivitamine sind nicht nur wegen ihrer therapeutischen Anwendungen wichtig.
Sie stellen auch ein heute unentbehrliches Hilfsmittel für die Stoffwechseluntersuchungen dar.
