HIGH-RESOLUTION DATASET OF NIGHTTIME TEMPERATURES IN BERN (2007 - 2022) Moritz Burger - Institute of Geography & Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research - University of Bern 19-June-2023 Description ----------- The dataset covers daily mean nighttime temperatures (10 pm to 6 am) in °C of the city of Bern (Switzerland) and its surroundings during summer (1st of June to 31st of August) in the period 2007 to 2022. For every year (2007 to 2022), a folder with 92 files is provided. The files are named "NightTempBern_xx_yy", in which "xx" indicates the year (07 = 2007) and "yy" the day of the summer (1 = 1st of June; 92 = 31st of August) of the file. The resolution is 50 m x 50 m. Keywords -------- Urban Temperature Dataset Fine Scaled Temperature Variability Urban Heat Island Data collection and computation ------------------------------- The dataset is computed using a land use regression (LUR) model, which was developed for the city of Bern (Burger et al., 2022). Three categories of input data are used to calculate the LUR model (see Burger et al., 2022 for more details): -nighttime (10 pm to 6 am) mean temperature data in °C of 61 stations from a fine scaled temperature measurement network in Bern -meteorological data from the official measurement station in Bern -land use / cover data provided from different administrational authorities and research institues Data Format ----------- The data is available in a geoTIFF format (.tif) with the coordinate system WGS_84. License ------- The data is provided under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.
